Hotels in CiudadelaSituated on the West Coast of Menorca, Ciudadela was once the capital of the island. With its own theatre, town hall, harbour, cathedral and even palace it really is a cultural delight. From the harbour you can travel out to numerous beaches and there are numerous shops selling anything and everything, a good choice of bars and a few discos. This is a great place to try some of the traditional fare such as Calderetas (lamb stew with almonds) and Sopa de Pescado (garlic stew with fish and tomatoes).

Hotels in Cala'n ForcatCala'n Forcat is situated on the rugged stretch of coast to the west of the former Menorcan capital, Ciutadella. Along with Cala'n Blanes and the Los Delfines complex it is part of one big holiday resort, springing to life at night with a wide selection of vibrant restaurants and bars. Although there is no large beach there are some small sandy coves about a 20-minute walk from the centre. If you don't feel like walking, the mini train runs every half hour and will take you to the beach. Cala'n Forcat is not only a good place for a relaxing holiday it is an excellent base for exploring the western end of Menorca.Luxury Hotels in Cala'n Forcat Hotels in Sa CaletaSet around a small bay on the west of the island with a gorgeous beach and crystal clear water. The resort is family friendly with lots of bars, shops and restaurants.Luxury Hotels in Sa Caleta Hotels in Arenal d'en CastellThe name 'Arenal' means sandy, and the beach here is perfect. This one of Menorca's most popular beaches, with good facilities for water sports and the shallow water makes it a safe place for children. Arenal d'en Castell is a pleasant spot and there are lovely walks within easy reach, ancient sites to visit and it is the only resort on the island where there is a golf course.Luxury Hotels in Arenal d'en Castell Hotels in Cala BlancaThe modern resort of Cala Blanca lies on the extreme west coast of Menorca, approximately 5km south of the former capital of the island Ciutadella, and some 50km, or 30 miles, west of Mahon and the International Aeropuerto de Menorca.Cala Blanca is one of Menorca's newest resort destinations with most of the town only being built in the early 1990's to accommodate an increasing demand for holiday accommodation on the island, and it has to be said this is not my favourite resort. With the exception of a couple of fair sized hotels, accommodation here is mainly self catering apartments and privately owned villas, and as a generalisation is best suited for those looking for a simple no-frills type holiday. Luxury Hotels in Cala Blanca Hotels in Son BouThe resorts of Son Bou and Cala'n Porter are the largest coastal developments of the municipal district of Alaior, along the central south coast of Menorca. In theory at least, the 20km, or 12 mile journey west, from Mahon and the international Aeropuerto de Menorca, should take no longer than about 20 to 30 minutes, however, at least one of the major tour operators is known to make prior transfers into the resort of Cala'n Porter, before then making the short trip over to Son Bou. This can effectively double the transfer time to over 1 hour from the time you actually leave the airport grounds. Luxury Hotels in Son Bou Hotels in C'an PicafortThe holiday resort of C'an Picafort is the principle coastal development of the municipal district of Santa Margalida, 60km north east of Palma, at the eastern end of the Bay of Alcudia, on the north coast of Majorca.Luxury Hotels in C'an Picafort |
